So as some of you may have noticed, I done blowed up my motherboard....again.
This is actually the third time I've managed to pull this off, but this time I cant recover it.
So, its upgrade time!!!
Picked up some new RAM, a new Asus Sabertooth 990 FX motherboard and an AMD Phenom II black processor set (3.3g hex core)
So I get the parts home and start to put it together. I almost got it back in one piece to make the RAID!! buuuttt I hit a snag.
My case is frankly not big enough for the parts given the way the wires layout. I have a spare case from about 15 years ago that would fit but it's old...ugly...and frankly has some questionable fans and air flow characteristics.
So, I'll be picking up the remaining pieces (shiny new full size tower case and anything else I can think of to take on this motherboards 6 SATA6 slots) tomorrow.
Total expense so far....$400.
Hope the raids went well. I'll update again once I get this a little farther along.

bad news that turns out better? New system...not too bad of a consequence right? We completed FoS 1 and 3. It went pretty well. See you when you're back in-game.

Well, the system is functional, still ironing out some bugs. likely going to need to refresh the OS as some critical neworking protocols apparantly didnt make it through the change over.
Hardware looks mostly functional, just need to work through sound card issues (for some reason those always drive me nuts) and fix whatever corrupted files kicked off on the networking protocols.
Been a while since I had a full size tower.....this thing is a beast.
coolermaster HAF 932 if you feel like googling it.

Spent all saturday wiring the cable management beast, Spent all sunday refreshing the OS and getting the updates in order.
Only thing I'm still running into appears to be some RAM issues.
Everything sees the 8GB installed Ram but for some reason it's only using 3.96GB of it. I attempted to turn off the remapping in the bios and that actually dropped it lower.
I'm sure this would all go much faster though if I would stop distracting myself with the Xbox Magic:The Gathering 2012 game I downloaded. I can feel MTG addiction poking at the back of my brain now, Soar knows what I'm talking about =).

It's official, bad RAM. Motherboard is now even reporting it as such. I'm returning them today and with any luck will have working chips by tonight.
There's still a chance that the motherboard is bad and I'm getting false positives....I'm trying not to think about that.

Not quite. The old girl is functioning but I havent been able to get past the memory issue.
Seems stable enough to run anything that wont mind being limited to only 4 GB though.
