Whoever came up with the initial idea for collections should be applauded.
Whoever though that they would be randomly placed with random contents in order to reward exploration should be applauded.
Whoever determined their level of involvement in actual game mechanics (small but measurable) and their level of involvement in character appearance (significant) should be applauded.
Whoever decided that they would be the exact same color as every fucking light in Gotham City should be hung up by his genitals and flayed alive with a rusted piece of barbed wire.

I had stupid good luck yesterday with Rutherfordium. I found 3 of them in 5 collections!!! It took all of 24 mins!!!!

I still think there was no good reason to make some rarer than others though.
Or at the least if your going to set up 1 as the "rare piece" have it be a different one for each of the 3 origins to even things out and prevent the rampant price gouging.
Personally, I try to hunt by sound. I listen for that special sound effect when I happen to be near one. It's the only advantage superspeed has in this regard. I can use Sonar to notify me when I am near one.
